When we updated the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre website, we had our members in mind. We knew they needed a site that looked sharp, and featured all of the content members and prospective members want to find, in an easy-to-navigate format.
We updated old content, added new content, and built a fresh website from the ground up. The result is a site that serves our visitors: One that is easier for you to navigate, and is as dramatic as the playwright community that runs the centre.
Photos from past SPC events illustrate the website, giving visitors a natural sense of what it’s like to be a member, and the programming section includes information about two new programs we launched this year, the Live Five program and the Playwrights Circle.
The only difference from the old site to the new site is that we no longer have a play catalogue. We found our members were not using the catalogue consistently, and to build a similar system from scratch would have been too much of a financial burden.
By design, the custom website is made to be easy to build upon down the road, so we can add programs and information as our organization grows, or add features like a play catalogue system if our members request one again.
We worked with Vireo Productions to create the site, a web design and content creation company located in Saskatoon, run by Ashleigh Mattern and Jordan Mears. Ashleigh is a sometimes-member of the SPC, joining whenever she participates in the 24-Hour Playwriting Competition.
