The Pipeline Project

The Pipeline Project is a central focus of our organization. It is a program through which we commit to working with a playwright or theatre creator from concept to professional production. We seek out artists whose interests align with our Artistic Mission, We separate this work into three phases.

Phase 1: Incubation

During this phase we meet with the theatre creator to discuss the content of the project. We offer feedback, develop a dramaturgical plan, and outline a timetable. We meet with the theatre artist every month to assess the progress and, if appropriate, make changes to the plan.

Phase 2: Maturation

We pair the creator with a dramaturge/choreographer/director or other specialized expert in a different part of the country, well suited to the content or style of the piece in development. The artist and mentor will work at a distance until it is deemed that the piece would benefit from a showcase, at which time the mentor will be brought to Saskatchewan to work with the mentee and a creative team to prepare a public presentation of the piece.

Phase 3: Advocacy

We will showcase the piece with the assistance of the project mentor, in front of an audience. Once accomplished, we may bring other producers to Saskatoon to see the showcase, or we may take the showcase to another city and present it in front of several producers. We advocate for the piece until it receives a professional production.

A project can join the pipeline at any appropriate phase.
